PURPOSE: To improve the visibility of a cursor displayed on a display.

CONSTITUTION: A register 4 holds cursor position information indicating the position of the cursor to be displayed and a register 8 holds erasure position information showing the position where the cursor should be erased. After the cursor position information in the register 4 is passed through shift registers 4-1-4-n in response to the input of a cursor movement command, the information is written in the register 8 and the cursor position information in the register 4 is rewritten. A cursor display means 9 rewrites the contents of a video RAM 7 according to the held contents of the registers 4 and 8. A controller 10 reads the contents of the video RAM 7 out and displays them on the display 11. Even when the repetitive frequency of an operation clock is lower on the controller 10 and display 11 than on a main body 101, a cursor display time is long, so the visibility of the cursor can be improved.
