PURPOSE: To obtain a cushioning material, having high cushioning properties, durability, stability and air permeability, hardly becoming stuffy and causing the unevenness of processing, capable of readily providing the diversification in the processing and easily producible in a short process.
CONSTITUTION: The objective cushion structure is obtained by dispersing and mixing elastic conjugate fiber 2, composed of a thermoplastic elastomer having a lower melting point than that of a polyester polymer constructing staple fiber by ≥40°C and a nonelastic polyester and exposing the former to at least the fiber surface in an assembly of nonelastic polyester-based crimped staple fiber 1. In the process, (A) nonamoebic flexible heat-set points formed by mutual thermal fusion of the elastic conjugate fiber in a crossed state and (B) quasi- flexible heat-set points formed by mutual thermal fusion of the elastic conjugate fiber and the nonelastic polyester-based staple fiber in a crossed state are scattered in the cushion structure.
