In the cut-off method of a water reservoir for making a clogging material 3 be sucked in a crack 2 to clog it for a water reservoir 1 where water is sucked in the crack 2 of natural ground and flows out, the suction strength corresponding to a flow speed of the water to be sucked is recognized beforehand for a suction part 4 where the water of the water reservoir 1 is sucked, a grain size range of the clogging material 3 effective for clogging the crack 2 for each suction strength and the secular change of an amount of the clogging material 3 of the grain size range sucked from the suction part 4 are experimentally obtained, and the time interval from the supply start of the clogging material 3 to the time when the amount of the clogging material 3 of the grain size range effective for clogging the crack to be sucked into the suction part 4 becomes equal to or smaller than the amount immediately after the supply start is set as the time interval to re-supply the clogging material 3 from the relation of the secular change.
