PURPOSE: To reduce the dimension of the device and cut cost by installing a solenoid which drives for the engagement and disengagement between a link and a sector gear.

CONSTITUTION: When the upper surface of a cut paper sheet is not at a prescribed height in paper feed, a solenoid 17 is turned-ON by the signal of an optical sensor 22 which detects the above-described state, and the hook 12a of a link 12 is engaged with a sector gear 13. Since the link 12 is moved in reciprocation by a cam 11 driven by a main motor, the sector gear 13 is pulled up by the reciprocating movement. Then, a paper feeding plate 23 is pulled up, and when the position of the upper surface of a cut paper sheet 24 reaches the prescribed height, the optical sensor 22 detects the state, and the solenoid 17 is cut off by the signal, and the raising of the paper is suspended. Through the link 12 is separated from the sector gear 13, the position of the sector gear is kept by a stopper 15.
