PURPOSE: To obtain a cut pile fabric, having a moderate volume and a deep color tone, a smooth surface touch without cracking the ground and good in resistance to permanent set in fatigue.

CONSTITUTION: This cut pile fabric is obtained by carrying out the stuff crimping of a multifilament yarn, prepared by melt spinning a polyamide with ≤1% titanium oxide content and having a trilobed and/or a hollow cross section and 1300de size, providing a BCF, forming the resultant BCF into a package comprising a plied yarn at 0.1-0.5g/cm3 winding density through a twister, then heat-setting the package, tufting a polypropylene base fabric with the yarn as a pile yarn, producing a cut and loop pile fabric, subsequently carrying out the piece dyeing of the pile fabric at a lower temperature than that in the heat-setting, untwisting the tips of the piles by rubbing effects in dyeing and forming a cut pile part, having twists at the pile base and reducing the twists toward the tips and substantially eliminating the twist at tips and radially extending the cut pile part mixed in a loop pile part. The difference in lightness ΔL between the cut pile and the loop pile parts is ≥5.
