To provide a method and a device for inspecting cut workpieces capable of highly accurately detecting only helical grooves even if recessed and protruded parts except the helical grooves to be originally detected exist.
Cut surfaces of a cut workpiece 1 cut and machined in a continuous, helical, and circular shape are inputted to an image input means 4. Variable density changes of the image data are highlighted by a specific frequency component by an image highlighting means 51 and subjected to two-dimensional orthogonal transformation into spatial frequency data by a two-dimensional orthogonal transformation means 52. Then spatial frequency analysis is performed on the spatial frequency data by a frequency analysis means 53 to detect a helical pattern formed by a specific pitch and determine the presence or absence of anomalies in the cut surfaces of the cut workpiece 1 from the helical pattern.
