To provide a cutter for cutting off a pipe, which extends its life much longer than before, and further suppresses a cost necessary for surface treatment, and scarcely generates chips in cutting off the pipe, and also to provide an apparatus for cutting off the pipe using the same cutter.
The cutter for cutting off the pipe carries out the cutting-off operation of the pipe by revolving around the pipe while coming into contact with the pipe to be cut off. The cutter 10 for cutting off the pipe is composed of an annular boss portion 14 having a through-hole 12 at the center thereof, and a flange shape cutter portion 16 formed around the boss portion. The cross sectional shape of the cutter portion is a nearly triangular shape which has an apex portion 18 to be brought into contact with the pipe first in cutting off the pipe, and two tilting curved portions 20 elongating from the apex portion toward the boss portion. The material of the cutter for cutting off the pipe is cold-work die steel.
