PURPOSE: To cut materials of different lengths from a long material so as to provide the minimum, useless cut end.

CONSTITUTION: A long material cutter is constituted of a computer 25 which finds such a combination as to provide the shortest cut end in the material cutting design based on the data of different dimensions and numbers got from cutting a long material 1, stores, and controls it, a locating device 4 which is controlled by the computer and sets a location of the long material fed in by a feeding device 3, and a cutter 2 which cuts the long material which is made to locate by the locating device so as to stop, at the prescribed position.
