PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of the cut-iron loss and obtain a slab provided with the superior yield in hot rolling by cutting a casted piece obtained through continuous casting in the direction of width by a pair of V-shaped cutters and forming V-shaped cut surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: The V-shaped cutting edges 10 and 10 of a pair of cutting tools arranged symmetrically for a casted piece 14 obtained through continuous casting are pushed into the casted piece 14 along the line 13 in the direction of the advance of the share point. The top edge surfaces 8 and 8 of the parallel flange of the cutting tool are attached to each other, and the share-point lines 9 and 9 are attached, and at the same time, the V-shaped cut surfaces 17 and 18 over the whole width in which the center part in the direction of width symmetrical in the lateral direction projects are formed onto the cut surface of the casted- piece by the both cutting edge surfaces 11, 11, 12 and 12 of the V-shaped cutters 10 and 10, and cutting work is completed.
