To reduce the wear of a cutter roll due to a cutting blade in the cutting roll for producing a chopped strand from a glass fiber strand.

The cutting device for a glass fiber strand is provided with a rotating support roll and the cutter roll on which a plurality of cutting blades are arranged separately and radially in the axial direction to be inserted at the lower end part into slit grooves of a blade receiving part, thereby cutting the glass fiber strand sent between the two rolls with the cutting blades. The blade receiving part of the cutter roll is formed from a fixed blade receiving part substantially integrated with a shaft part and a cylindrical blade receiving part fixed detachably. A ring made of a material harder than that of the blade receiving part of the cutter roll is provided in both end of the blade receiving part and between the fixed blade receiving part and the cylindrical blade receiving part. The lower end of the cutting blade is brought into contact with and engaged with the ring to substantially support the cutting load of the cutting blade by the ring.
