To create a cutting device and a cutting knife for cutting rod-like products of tobacco processing industry, wherein the rod-like products are cut from strands under forming cost-saving cut cross-sections as far as possible while avoiding generation of sparks.
The cutting device (1) for cutting rod-like products of tobacco processing industry is equipped with at least one rotary cutting holder (14) having at least one of cutting knives (2, 3), one cutting blade (9, 9a, 9b), and two side faces (7, 8) formed on the cutting blade (9, 9a, 9b), wherein at least one side face out of the side faces (7, 8) of the cutting knives (2, 3) has a coating (13) for enhancing surface hardness. As for the cutting knives (2, 3) of the cutting device (1), the cutting knives (2, 3) are exchangeable.
