To provide a cutting device which cuts an object to be cut at an arbitrary position, automatically set the timing of the automatic cutting start or finishing even when the shapes of the objects are changed, easily automates the cutting operation, and stably cuts even a perfectly round object.
The cutting device detects the change of reaction force received by a cutter when respective cutters 2, 3, 4, 5 contact the object 1 to be cut by a sensor 23, and determines increasing timing of a pressing force of the cutters, the starting timing of cutting completion processing, and abnormal state such as breakage of the cutter based on the detection result of the sensor. The cutting device moves a cutting mechanism part 28 in the axial direction of the object, stops and fixes it at a desired position, fixes, connects one side surface side of the cutting mechanism part with a device body in a cantilever state, and forms an opening part where no obstacle is provided on the other side surface side. The cutting device switches a head in the cutting mechanism part between a free state where it is oscillated in a plane orthogonal to the rotating axis of the object, and a lock state where it is not oscillated.
