Title:
CUTTING INSERT FOR GROOVING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3716090
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the chatter in cutting and enhance the strength of a cutting blade part by forming cutting edges on the upper and lower surface ridge edges of the cutting blade part.
SOLUTION: An insert 1 is formed of a substantially triangular plate body having a bolt fixing through-hole 2 in the center, and the apex part of the triangle is notched to protrude a square column-like cutting blade part 4 in the extension direction of a constraining side surface 3 to be supported by a tool body. The whole cutting blade part 4 of the insert 1 is arranged in the inside of a virtual triangle T having the constraining side surface 3 as a partial edge. At least one tip ridge edge 7 of the upper surface 5 or lower surface of the cutting blade part 4 is formed into a main cutting edge 8, and the thickness is set so as to be substantially the same as the thickness of the plate body to enhance the mechanical strength of the cutting blade part 4. According to this, the rigidity in insert constraint can be increased to minimize the chatter in cutting, and the strength of the cutting blade part can be enhanced.
