Abstract:
To provide a cutting insert which can determine use or non-use of a cutting edge by a resin layer, and can assure accuracy of a cutting edge position.SOLUTION: A cutting insert 1, which has a polygonal plate-like shape and a front and back inverted symmetrical shape, comprises: a rake face 5; a flank face 6; a cutting edge 7 which is formed on an intersection ridge line between the rake face 5 and the flank face 6; and a resin layer 8 which has a color different from a color of the flank face 6, and is located on only the flank face 6 or located on only the flank face 6 and the cutting edge 7. The cutting edge 7 has a convex curved corner blade part 7a, the flank face 6 has a first flank face part 6a having a convex curved surface which is connected to the corner blade part 7a, and the resin layer 8 has a first resin layer part 8a positioned on the first flank face part 6a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
