Abstract:
To provide a cutting insert configured so that damage such as defect can be prevented even if large cutting loads act on a cutting blade in the vicinity of a nick.SOLUTION: The cutting insert comprises rake faces 2 pointed to a rotating direction of an end mill main body, seating surfaces 3 pointed to the opposite side of the rake faces 2 and flank faces 4 extending to circumferences of the rake faces 2 and the seating surfaces 3. Two cutting blades 5 and 6 comprising circular arc-shape cutting blade parts 5a and 6a and linear cutting blade parts 5b and 6b respectively are formed at crossing ridge-line parts between the rake faces 2 and the flank faces 4. Nicks 10 that open to the flank faces 4 are formed on the rake faces 2. Groove parts 8 are formed on the seating surfaces 3 so as to open to the flank faces 4. Positions M recessed most toward the seat faces 3 in opening parts to the flank faces 4 of the nicks 10 are arranged at positions different from opening parts to the flank faces 4 of the groove parts 8 in a perspective view from the rake faces 2 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
