Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a length measuring device in a cutting machine which will not permit a length measuring member to come off for a work whose wall thickness is small at the time of automatic length measurement.
CONSTITUTION: A work W is conveyed along a reference stock vice surface BL and fixed by a reference stock vice 33. The rear end surface of the work W is pushed by the contact 25 of a length measuring vehicle to measure a cutting length from the traveling amount of the length measuring vehicle. Even if the work W goes over the reference stock vice surface BL and is displaced, the arm 43 of the contact 25 which is provided, going over the reference stock vice surface BL, will not leave the rear end surface of the work W, and when the work W returns to its proper position, the contact 25 is located at the prescribed position of the rear end surface of the work W. A groove 45 is provided at a position corresponding to the contact 25 in the reference stock vice 33, so the contact 25 has no interference with the reference stock vice 22 even if it approaches a cutting position.
