Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of reducing an object area of removal treatment of a fusion slag adhering to an end of a slab cut out by cutting a continuously cast piece and reducing a work load of the removal treatment, and capable of avoiding an increase in a load of rolling equipment and width reduction facilities without causing a plate thickness variation at a tip end or a tail end of the slab.SOLUTION: A cutting method for continuously cast piece includes: a process of forming a top face groove 1 by selectively cutting a top face of a continuously cast piece 3 along a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the cast piece 3; and a process of fusion-cutting the continuously cast piece 3 along the bottom of the top face groove 1 and storing a molten material inside the top face groove 1 by controlling heights of a molten material 7 on an upstream side and a molten material 8 on a downstream side produced by the fusion cutting to the height of the top face of the continuously cast piece 3 or lower. Thereby, the molten materials 7 and 8 are prevented from adhering to the top face of the continuously cast piece 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
