To provide a cutting method and a device for a cord reinforced rubber sheet material by which the material is precisely cut even in a narrow space despite of a comparatively simple mechanism.
A cutting device 1 is provided with a portal frame 3 which is arranged on a carrier conveyer for carrying reinforcing-cord embedded rubber sheet materials, in such a state as extending across the carrier conveyer and crossing at right angles with the carrying direction of the carrier conveyer. A vertically moving guide member 5 is horizontally erected on the frame 3 and a cutting mechanism 8 provided with a cutter 7 for cutting the sheet along the reinforcing cord in the bias direction is movably provided on the guide rail 6 of the guide member 5. The cutting mechanism 8 is so constituted as to reciprocate via a reciprocating drive device 9 and a sliding mechanism which stops the movement of the cutting mechanism 8 in the case where a prescribed load or more is acted on the cutter 7 of the cutting mechanism 8 is provided.
