Abstract:

To provide a cutting method of a honeycomb formed body that can improve cutting accuracy without causing strain such as buckling, in the honeycomb formed body containing a material including silicon carbide, and a method for manufacturing the honeycomb structural body.

In a cutting method of a honeycomb formed body, a lot of cells produced by the extrusion molding are separated by a cell wall and disposed in parallel in the longitudinal direction, and the pillar-shaped honeycomb formed body comprising a material including silicon carbide with which an outer peripheral wall is formed is cut into a given length. The cutting method of the honeycomb formed body contains a groove forming process in which a cutting assistance groove is provided to an outer periphery of the honeycomb formed body by a laser of wavelength region 0.7-2.5 μm and a wire cutting process to cut the wire through the cutting assistance groove.
