PURPOSE: To cut and process a residual material before the last product length is cut so as to eliminate a residual material with the length longer than that of a product and so as to automatically process the residual material.

CONSTITUTION: As a distance from a stopper 19 to a home position of a work feeding device 33 is preset, a moving distance of the work feeding device 33 from the home position is always detected and found by means of an encoder 39, so that the overall length L of work W is measured by means of a controller 57. If a residual material is generated when five pieces, for example, of the product length are cut, the length of the residual material is cut at first, and then, five pieces of the product length are cut. Alternatively, the work W is cut by cutting five pieces of the product length, and at last, cutting and processing the length of the residual member.
