Abstract:
PURPOSE: To cut steel materials efficiently by heating the cutting position of a bar steel at above a specified temperature and under a condition that does not cause recrystallization and forming a notch by rolling.
CONSTITUTION: A bar steel or a steel tube is heated at the cutting position to ≥400°C and under a condition that does not cause recrystallization, and a notch is formed by rolling in a circumferential direction. When heat treatment composed of rapid heating and cooling is made on the notched part, a crack is developed surely from the bottom of the notch toward the center of the bar steel or steel tube. Cutting can be made easily by applying a mechanical load to the part where the crack is formed.
