Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect separation of a work very accurately by deciding whether the work is completely separated or not based on the phase difference between first and second main spindles at the time of cutting-off machining.
CONSTITUTION: A work is held at its both ends by first main spindle and second main spindle, first main spindle motor 21a and second main spindle motor 21b are synchronously operated to perform cutting-off machining of the work, and a tool rest is advanced till the position where cutting-off reaches completion. Next, a phase synchronization control means 53 is operated in a state wherein feedback output of a correction command means 56 is shut off, cutting-off machining is finished on condition that the phase difference output from a phase difference detecting means 54 has exceede a specified value, and a two spindle-facing lathe is forced to perform the operation of next production process.
