To obtain a fiber excellent in cutting resistance by adding a rigid filler having a specific Mohs hardness value to a fiber-forming polymer and then forming a spun yarn.
This cutting resistant fiber is obtained by including a rigid filler such as alumina or tungsten selected from the group of grains having ≥3, preferably ≥5 Mohs hardness and ≤20μm average grain diameter, slender grains having ≤20μm average length and a mixture thereof in an amount of 0.05-20wt.% or 0.01-3vol.% and sufficient to improve the cutting resistance measured in the Ashland cutting protecting performance test by at least 10%, preferably at least 20% as compared with that of a fiber composed of a fiber- forming polymer without containing the filler in the fiber-forming polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate, and then spinning the resultant polymer containing the rigid filler.
