Abstract:
PURPOSE: To identify a type of tool by furnishing a bar code having indication for the type of tool and parts number of the tool on its part excluding the chuck and cutting edge and read it with a bar code reader while the tool is mounted in the machine tool.
CONSTITUTION: A tool 10 is mounted on the spindle 7 with a collet chuck 8, milling chuck 9, and the spindle 7 is put in idling. Laser beam 12 emitted by a bar code reader 11 is irradiated to the rotating bar code 14. Type of tool and parts number printed in the form of a bar code are sensed through the reflective light, and read by a bar code controller 19. Thereby readout of the information can be made contactlessly to make possible of using the bar code for a long time.
