To provide a cutting tool which allows a plurality of cutting inserts to be mounted per a unit length without reducing a tool performance for forming and discharging chips, and also to provide cutting inserts.
The cutting tool includes: a base 1; and the plurality of cutting inserts 2 which are consecutively arranged with each other in front and in the rear. Each insert 2 includes an upper face, a lower face, two side faces oppositely located with each other, a front end and rear end, and a cutting edge adjacent to the front end. The rear end of the first cutting insert 2 faces the front end of the second cutting insert 2 arranged on the back of the first insert 2, and a chips space in the front of the edge of the second cutting insert 2 is partitioned by a chip forming surface extended forward from the rear end of the first cutting insert 2 and a chip forming surface extended downward from the edge of the second cutting insert 2.
