PURPOSE: To provide a handy-type cutting tool capable of simply and surely cutting a light gage steel at any place.
CONSTITUTION: This cutting tool for a light gage steel is provided with a holder body 5 formed with a holding groove 6 and a guide body 2 having a fixed handle 7, a moving handle 8, and a through hole 2a on a main body 1. A piston rod 4 fitted with a cutting edge 3 is supported reciprocatably in the through hole 2a of the guide body 2. Check row teeth 12 are formed on the piston rod 4, and the free end section 15b of a return plate 15 rotatably fitted to the main body 1 is connected to the piston rod 4. The return plate 15 and the moving handle 8 side are connected by a link member 19. A light gage steel held in the holding groove 6 can be cut by the cutting edge 3 when the moving handle 8 is merely opened and closed. When the moving handle 8 is largely released after the light gage steel is cut, the piston rod 4 is automatically retreated in the through hole 2a of the guide body 2, and the cutting edge 3 is returned to the waiting position.
