Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a cutting tool made of a high-strength and highly tough CBN base superhigh pressure sintered material.

CONSTITUTION: A cutting tool is formed of a combination phase where the proportion of CBN grains dispersed-distributed on a base is 40 to 65vol.% and the remaining base has a skeleton-structure. Further, the combination phase is made of a CBN base superhigh pressure sintered material having a composition composed of 5 to 15% reaction productive phase formed of 5 to 18vol.% of Al2O3, AlB2, AlN, and TiB2, and TiC and inevitable impurities the remainder, and a structure where the reactic productive phases are dispersed-distributed in a mixed phase of Al2O3 grains and TiC grains.
