To provide a cutting tool for a steel bar which is excellent in strength and durability, reduces an operating force, and can efficiently and stably cut the steel bar.

The cutting tool for the steel bar is provided with a fixed blade body 2 and a rotary blade body 3 capable of rotating around a first axis 10 by a handle operation at the tip end of a tool base 1, and shears the steel bar with recessed shaped blades 2d, 3d formed at the outer periphery of the fixed blade body 2 and the rotary blade body 3. The handle 6 where the tip end of the handle base part 5 is pivoted by a second axis 11 at the upper position of the tool base 1 is equipped with a long hole 5d extending obliquely rearward behind a second axis. The rotary blade body 3 is equipped with an arm part 3b extending rearward, forms branch parts for clipping the handle base part 5 from both right and left sides on the rear end, bends these branch parts upward so as to detour the second axis 11, and supports both ends of a pin 25 sliding in the inside of the long hole 5d.
