Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance clamping capacity for a cutting insert for screw cutting.SOLUTION: A cutting insert (1) for threading comprises two opposite end surfaces (2, 3) and a peripheral side surface (4) which extends therebetween. The peripheral side surface has a first side surface portion (7a) and a second side surface portion (8) which are arranged at different positions in a circumferential direction. A cutting edge (5) is formed at an intersecting ridgeline portion between the first end surface (2) and the first side surface portion (7a), and at least a part of the cutting edge has a shape corresponding to a thread groove. The second side surface portion has an inclined portion (8a) which enlarges outwards from the side of the first end surface (2) toward the side of the second end surface (3). The inclined portion (8a) is configured to engage with a side wall surface (25) of a tool body (22) so as to prevent floating of the cutting insert (1).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
