Title:
CUTTING TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5554543
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a cutting tool with superior characteristics by mixing a nitride, a boride and an oxide or a silicide as hard materials into a sintered hard alloy consisting of a metal carbide and a binding metal, and by replacing part of the binding metal with P, Sn, Pb, S, Bi, Se, Te, Ag or Zn.

CONSTITUTION: A carbide such as WC or TiC is sintered with 50% or less of a binding metal such as Co to make a tool steel. At this time, in order to enhance the wear resistance and strength of the carbide, the sinterability and hardness, and the heat and oxidation resistances, nitride of Ti, Zr or the like, Ti boride, and oxide or silicide of Al, Mo or the like are added, respectively in a range of 0.5W60% of the carbide. 5% or less of the binder Co is replaced with one or more out of Sn, P, Pb, S, Bi, Se, Te, Ag and Zn. Thus, a cutting tool superior to a conventional one in workability can be manufactured.
