To provide a cutting unit that a carpet tile, especially, its backing layer, can be cut in a suitable manner.SOLUTION: A cutting unit that cuts carpet tiles comprises a feed mechanism sending the carpet tiles in a conveyance direction and a rotating cutting blade that is located downstream of the feed mechanism, in a conveyance direction and pulls in and cuts the carpet tiles being sent from the feed mechanism. The feed speed of the carpet tile in the feed mechanism is slower than the cutting speed of a rotary cutting blade.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
