To provide a method for treating Alzheimer disease by using substituted cyclic amine BACE-1 inhibitors having a benzamide or a pyridinecarboxamide substituent.
There are disclosed compounds of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds of the formula I. There are also disclosed methods of treating dementia or neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's disease). There are also disclosed pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treating dementia or neurodegenerative diseases comprising the compounds of the formula I in combination with a -secretase inhibitor other than those of the formula I, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, a -secretase inhibitor, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, an N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist, a cholinesterase inhibitor or an anti-amyloid antibody.
