PURPOSE: To provide a composition excellent in oil resistance and solvent resistance, containing boiling cyclohexane insolubles at a specified level or higher, useful for optical materials etc., comprising each specific sparingly soluble cyclic olefin copolymer and readily soluble one.
CONSTITUTION: The composition ≥4wt.% in boiling cyclohexane insolubles, comprising (A) a sparingly soluble cyclic olefin copolymer produced by copolymerization between (1) an α-olefin and (2) a cyclic olefin of formula I (n and r are each 0 or 1; m is 0 or positive integer; R1-R18, Ra and Rb are each H, halogen, hydrocarbon, etc.) or formula II (p and q are each 0 or 1; m and n are each 0-2; R1-R19 are each H, halogen, aliphatic hydrocarbon, etc.) at the molar ratio of (47:53) to (60:40) in the presence of a soluble vanadium compound and an organoaluminum compound and (B) a readily soluble cyclic olefin copolymer produced by copolymerization between (3) an α-olefin and (4) at least one kind of cyclic olefin of the formula I or formula II at the molar ratio of (40:60) to (95:5).
