Abstract:
To provide a cyclic olefin polymer that can be readily produced by addition polymerization and is suitable as an adhesive, a coating material, electronic parts and an optical material having excellent adhesion, transparency, heat resistance and low water absorption.
The cyclic olefin polymer includes (a) a cyclic olefin structural unit bearing a spiroring type acid anhydride group and (b) the other cyclic olefin structural unit and the proportion of the structural unit (a) is 0.2-20 mole % in the polymer and the number average molecular weight of the polymer is 10,000-1,000,000.
