To provide a cyclic olefinic copolymer excellent in the balance between thermal resistance and strength.
This cyclic olefinic copolymer is produced by copolymerizing an α-olefin having a carbon number of 2 to 30 with a cyclic olefin represented by Formula [I]: wherein m represents an integer of 1 or more; and R1 to R12 independently represent a group having a carbon number of 20 or less which is any one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a hydrocarbonoxy group, a hydroxy group, an amino group, a dialkylamino group, a carboxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxycarbonyl group, an aralkyloxycarbonyl group, a phosphino group, an alkoxysulfonyl group, an aryloxysulfonyl group, an aralkyloxysulfonyl group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, a substituted silyl group and a cyano group, wherein the content of a monomer unit derived from the cyclic olefin in the cyclic olefinic copolymer is 1 to 50 mol% and the cyclic olefinic copolymer has two-chain structure based on the monomer unit derived from the cyclic olefin.
