Abstract:

To produce the subject polymer with a low content of catalyst residues scarcely producing a waste liquor containing a large amount of metals and capable of efficiently removing the catalyst residues by a simple means, by adding a specific compound and precipitating a compound containing a transition metal and aluminum.

At least one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of an α-hydroxy acid or a β-hydroxy acid respectively having one hydroxyl group and one carboxyl group in the molecule and a derivative in which the hydroxyl group thereof is substituted with an alkoxyl group is added to a solution of a reactional product using (A) an organic solvent-soluble transition metal catalyst component and (B) an organoaluminum compound as a catalyst to precipitate a compound containing the transition metal and aluminum. The resultant precipitate is then separated by filtration to produce the objective polymer. A metallocene catalyst component, a metathetic catalyst component, or the like, are preferably used as the component A.
