Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound useful as a raw material for biodegradable polymers.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (R1 is 1-10C alkyl). It can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II (R2 is same as R1) (preferably methyl 3-hydroxybutyrate) in the presence of an ester interchange catalyst (preferably dialkyltin oxide such as dibutyltin oxide).
