Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cyclodextrin clathrate complex of catechol estrogen and a peroxylipid inhibitor containing the clathrate complex as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: The objective catechol estrogen expressed by the formula (R1 is OH; R2 is H or ethynyl or, together with R1, means 0; R3 is H or OH), e.g. a clathrate complex of 2-hydroxyestradiol with β-cyclodextrin, γ-cyclodextrin or a derivative thereof. The formation of the clathrate complex provides remarkable improvement in water solubility while maintaining inhibiting action comparable to that of the catechol estrogen on peroxylipids. Furthermore, an adequate amount can be administered for treating various diseases or preventing senescence.
