Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the resistances to impact and heat by copolymerizing an α-olefin with a specific cycloolefin in the presence of a hydrocarbon elastomer.
CONSTITUTION: 10-90mol% α-olefin and 90-10mol% cycloolefin of formula I (wherein n and q are each 0 or 1; m is 0 or a positive integer; and R1 to R18, Ra, and Rb are each H, halogen, or a hydrocarbon group provided that R15 to R18 may combine with each other to form a mono- or polycycle optionally having a double bond) or formula II (wherein p and q are each 0 or 1 or higher; m and n are each 0-2; and R1 to R19 are each H, halogen, an aliph., alicyclic, or arom. hydrocarbon group, etc.) are copolymerized under 0-50kg/cm2 pressure at -50 to 150°C for 5min to 5hr in the presence of 1-50wt.% hydrocarbon elastomer having an intrinsic viscosity (in decalin at 135°C) of 0,05-10dl/g, a glass transition of 10°C or lower, and no polymerizable double bond.
