Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the resistances to impact and heat by copolymerizing an alpha-olefin with a specific cycloolefin in the presence of a hydrocarbon elastomer. CONSTITUTION:10-90mol% alpha-olefin and 90-10mol% cycloolefin of formula I (wherein n and q are each 0 or 1; m is 0 or a positive integer; and R<1> to R<18>, R, and R are each H, halogen, or a hydrocarbon group provided that R<15> to R<18> may combine with each other to form a mono- or polycycle optionally having a double bond) or formula II (wherein p and q are each 0 or 1 or higher; m and n are each 0-2; and R<1> to R<19> are each H, halogen, an aliph., alicyclic, or arom. hydrocarbon group, etc.) are copolymerized under 0-50kg/cm<2> pressure at -50 to 150 deg.C for 5min to 5hr in the presence of 1-50wt.% hydrocarbon elastomer having an intrinsic viscosity (in decalin at 135 deg.C) of 0,05-10dl/g, a glass transition of 10 deg.C or lower, and no polymerizable double bond.
