Title:
CYCLOOLEFIN COPOLYMER AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3817015
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cycloolefin copolymer having high heat insulating properties and a high clarity by selecting a cycloolefin copolymer comprising structural units derived from a linear or branched α-olefin, a cycloolefin, and an arom. vinyl compd. in a specified ratio and having a specified intrinsic viscosity.
SOLUTION: This copolymer is formed from 30-89 mol% 2-20C linear or branched α-olefin (A). 10-70 mol% cycloolefin (B) represented by formula I (wherein n and k are each 0 or 1; m is 0 or a positive integer; R1 to R18, Ra, and Rb are each H, halogen, etc. ; R15 to R18 may each form a mono- or polycyclic group; and R15 and R16 may combine with each other to form an alkylidene group, and so may R17 and R18) or formula II (wherein p and q are each 0, 1, or higher; r and s are each 0-2; R21 to R39 are each H, halogen, etc.; and when r=s=0, then R35 and R32 may combine with each other to form a mono- or polycyclic group, and so may R35 and R39), and 0.1-35 mol% arom. vinyl compd. (C). The copolymer has molar percentages satisfying the relation: 0.5×B≥C≥0.01×B and has an intrinsic viscosity [771 of 0.1-10 dl/g and a glass transition point (Tg) of 60-170°C.
