Title:
CYCLOOXYGENASE INHIBITOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04364126
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an agent useful as an antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent having cyclooxygenase-inhibiting action higher than that of indomethacin.

CONSTITUTION: The objective agent contains a thiazole compound of formula (R1 is lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl; R4 is OH, lower alkoxy or NR5R6; R5 and R6 are H or lower alkyl) or its pharmacologically permissible salt, preferably 2-[4-(4-methylthiazol-2-yl)phenyl]propionic acid, etc., as an active component. The cyclooxygenase-inhibiting action of the active component is about 5 to 6 times as large as that of indomethacin and, accordingly, the compound is useful as a cyclooxygenase-inhibiting agent effective against various diseases relevant to prostaglandins and thromboxanes. The active component is administered at a rate of usually 1-1,000mg per day in one to several divided doses.
