NEW MATERIAL:A cyclopentanone derivative expressed by formula I (R is carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxymethyl, protected hydroxymethyl or lower alkyl; X is -C≡C- or -CH2-CH2-).
EXAMPLE: Methyl 8-[3-oxo-2-[2(2)-pentanyl]cyclopentyl]-6-octylate.
USE: An important precursor for antimicrobial and antifungal agents.
PREPARATION: For example, a 2-diazo-3-oxocarboxylic acid ester derivative expressed by formula II is cyclized to give a 3-substituted-2-alkoxycarbonylcyclopentanone expressed by formula III, which is then reacted with a 1-halo-2(Z)- pentene to afford a 3-substituted-2-alkoxycarbonyl-2-[2(Z)-pentenyl]-cyclopentanone expressed by formula IV. The resultant 3-substituted-2-alkoxycarbonyl-2- [2(Z)-pentenyl]-cyclopentanone expressed by formula IV is then de-esterified to give the aimed compound expressed by formula I .
