Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve combustion efficiency by enclosing swirl including fuel mist in a recessed part.
SOLUTION: As intake swirl is generated along the inside of a cylinder, fuel is directly injected into a combustion chamber, and combustion is started by ignition by a spark plug 1. A roughly circular recessed part 5 is formed at an eccentric position in a piston top surface 4. The recessed part 5 has a roughly vertical inner circumferential wall surface 5a in a piston axial line direction, and a flat bottom surface 5b of a roughly constant depth, and the inner circumferential wall surface 5a and the bottom surface 5b are connected to each other by diagonal surfaces 5c-5e. Compared to the swirl inflow side into the recessed part 5, a vertical part of the inner circumferential wall surface 5a is long on the swirl collision side, where the diagonal surface 5d is short.
