Abstract:

To reinforce the turn of the main stream of a tumble flow turning around the center of a combustion chamber by controlling an air flow in a portion near to the inner wall surfaces of a cylinder.

In a cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine, intake air is led to flow into the combustion chamber so that the intake air led to flow into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine becomes a predetermined turning intake air flow in the combustion chamber. When a piston is lowered and an intake valve is opened, fuel is injected in a direction along both the inner wall surfaces of the cylinder from a cylinder injection fuel valve arranged to inject fuel from the intake air inflow side of the upper circumferential portion of the cylinder, and the flowing direction of an intake air flow along the inner wall surfaces of the cylinder is guided to the direction of the main stream of the tumble flow turning around the center of the cylinder, thereby reinforcing the main stream of the tumble flow.
