Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile low fuel consumption and high output while reducing exhaust emission, and to improve the starting performance, by enabling intake pipe injection depending on operating conditions of an engine in a cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: A fuel injection valve 33 can be rotated by a motor 45, whereby uniform combustion by intake pipe injection is enabled on condition that an inclined injection hole 7 is directed to inside of an intake port 27. Meanwhile, in a compression stroke during which an intake valve 23 is closed, when the fuel injection valve 33 is rotated so that the injection hole 7 is directed to inside of a combustion chamber 22, stratified combustion by cylinder injection is enabled. Alternatively, by providing the fuel injection valve with an injection hole of intake pipe side in addition to the injection hole of cylinder side, allowing selective use thereof, it is possible to switch the injection mode between the cylinder injection and the intake pipe injection. The intake pipe injection may be conducted not only in a suction stroke but also in the preceding exhaust stroke.
