Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable stratified lean charge combustion and improve combustion efficiency by satisfying a necessary condition of stratification of air-fuel mixture in a cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: A cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine is formed such that fuel is directly injects in a combustion chamber, partitioned between the top surface of a piston 12 inserted in a cylinder 11 and a cylinder head 13, to which an ignition plug 14 is attached, by a fuel injection valve 16. In this case, a recessed part 12a in a surface shape forming an isometric helical surface centering around the injection point of a fuel injection valve 16 is formed in a part of the top surface of the piston 12, and fuel is injected toward the recessed part 12a by the fuel injection valve 16. A collision angle of spray 17 with the piston 12 is approximately constant regardless of the portion of the spray 17, and the speed of the spray 17 after collision is also approximately constant and induced, in order, to the ignition plug 14.
