Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the combustion condition from making a sudden change even if an engine is suddenly accelerated or decelerated.
SOLUTION: With regard to a cylinder direct injection type spark ignition engine equipped with a means 41 capable of adjusting the swirl strength, a judging means 42 judges whether it is in a stratified combustion range or not, and based on the result of the judgment, a swirl strength variable means 43 varies the swirl strength corresponding to the engine speed. When the swirl strength varies corresponding to the engine speed making less sudden variation, the combustion condition does not make a sudden variation even if sudden acceleration or deceleration is practiced in the stratified combustion range.
