PURPOSE: To provide a cylinder discriminating device which performs reliable discrimination of the cylinders of a multicylinder internal combustion engine through simple constitution.
CONSTITUTION: A means which generates the same number of reference signals as the number of cylinders or a reference signal group 2 in one full cycle of an engine and a means which generates a binary pattern signal 3, having the number of kinds equivalent to the number of cylinder, at a period being one full cycle of the engine through combination of the number of times of the change point of a signal level between reference signals and a value during input of a reference signal are provided, and a cylinder is discriminated through combination of the signals 2 and 3. This constitution simplifies a signal generating means and a processing means for discrimination of a cylinder and reduces a cost.
