Title:
CYLINDER DISPLACEMENT VARIABLE TWIN-PISTON INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57153928
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To change output power throughout a wide range, by parallelly inserting two pistons in a cylinder and performing a displacement varying function of the cylinder with one of the pistons.

CONSTITUTION: The first and second pistons 12, 7 are slidably inserted into a cylinder, and the piston 12 is connected to a crankshaft 14 through a connecting rod 13 and similarly operated to a cnventional internal combustion engine. On the other hand, the piston 7 is interlocked to a cam 1 on a cam shaft 2 through a connecting rod 6, connecting rod guide 5 and roller 3, and capacity of the cylinder can be steplessly adjusted by the displacement of said piston 7 through the cam 1. In this way, output can be changed to an extremely wide range, and operation in the best efficiency can be also performed for a change of load.
